Ruby on Rails

Ruby on Rails – Your Application, Fully Customized

Rails is not a finished product, but the framework for one. Where standard software reaches its limits, Rails creates exactly the application that maps your business model. We ensure that it runs reliably – on European infrastructure and without the pricing models of American platform providers.

20 Years

Experience of our team with Ruby on Rails

Proven

Basis for world-renowned applications such as GitHub or XING

Flexible

Thousands of libraries (Gems) for almost every purpose

Open Source

For Whom

Who is Rails Hosting for?

A typical situation is one where the application is functionally stable, but operations require attention that no one has time for in day-to-day business.

  • Development teams, agencies, and freelancers building Rails applications for clients or for their own product
  • Companies that want to have an existing Rails application operated without building up their own DevOps capacity
  • Projects migrating from platforms whose costs or data situation are no longer a fit

The Framework

What Distinguishes Rails

Convention over Configuration

Rails provides a clear structure. This accelerates development and makes projects transferable: new team members find their way around quickly because the basic order is the same everywhere.

Full Stack

Active Record, Active Job, Active Storage, Action Mailer – the building blocks of a serious web application are part of the framework, not third-party parts gathered from elsewhere.

Modern Interfaces Without a Separate Frontend

With Hotwire, reactive interfaces are created without maintaining a JavaScript application in parallel. Fewer moving parts, one deployment instead of two.

Mature and Actively Maintained

In development for over twenty years and in use for applications of all sizes. Current versions include database-based queues, cache, and WebSockets – simplifying operations.

True Open Source

Rails is under the MIT license: no license fees, no usage restrictions, no provider that can withdraw the foundation of your product.

Operations

What is Involved in Operating a Rails Application

A Rails application is rarely a single process. We set up the environment exactly as your project actually needs it.

  • Application Server: Puma behind nginx, with the Ruby version your application expects – cleanly separated from other projects
  • Database: PostgreSQL or MySQL/MariaDB, dedicated, with backups and recovery tests
  • Background Jobs: Sidekiq with Redis or the database-based variant – workers are monitored and reliably restarted after deployments
  • Caching and Real-time: Redis for cache and sessions, WebSockets for Action Cable
  • Files and Uploads: Active Storage directly on our S3-compatible object storage
  • Scheduled Tasks: Cron jobs are set up and monitored, instead of failing unnoticed
  • Email Delivery: SMTP with clean deliverability, including SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for your domain

Use Cases

What We Run Rails For

Wherever standard software doesn’t fit and the application needs to grow with the business.

  • Internal business applications and administrative systems without suitable standard software
  • Customer portals with login, roles, and custom workflows
  • SaaS products with multi-tenancy and billing logic
  • Booking, appointment, and resource management
  • Data-driven platforms with APIs for apps or partner systems
  • Takeover of existing Rails applications from other platforms

Deployment

Deployment and Collaboration

The path to the server is via Git; you continue to use your repository at GitHub, GitLab, or elsewhere unchanged. If you already work with Kamal, Capistrano, or a CI pipeline, we use your tool.

  1. Push You push your state to the repository we provide
  2. Rollout We handle bundle install, asset compilation, and database migrations
  3. Credentials Encrypted in Rails Credentials or server-side as environment variables – never in the repository
  4. Staging Staging or review environments parallel to production upon request

Responsibilities

What Remains in Your Hands, What Stays in Ours

If something gets stuck during deployment or the application behaves conspicuously, you have a contact person who knows the server – without going through a ticket system.

With You

  • Application code and further development
  • Gems and dependencies
  • Architecture
  • Database migrations

With Us

  • Operating system and Ruby environment
  • Web server and database
  • Process supervision and monitoring
  • Security updates and backups

SaaS Web

Your Advantages with SaaS Web

Data Centers in Europe

Exclusively certified data centers, GDPR-compliant, with documented responsibilities and no data leakage to third parties.

Scalable Infrastructure

Shared, as a dedicated VM, or on your own hardware – scaling is possible later without setting up the application anew.

No Dependency

The application belongs to you; a move is possible at any time. No pricing model that gets more expensive with every instance.

Your server, your rules – and your application runs.
