Craft CMS
Craft CMS – The Professional Content Management System
Craft is not a site builder or a theme system, but a foundation: You model content as your project requires and build the frontend around your own design. Your clients get a streamlined backend – without options they should never touch.
Twig
custom markup, no predefined theme
Multi-Site
multiple languages and sites on one installation
GraphQL
optional as a headless backend
For Whom
Who is Craft CMS for?
Craft excels wherever a website is more than just a collection of pages.
- Agencies, freelancers, and development teams who implement client websites and want to maintain control over structure, markup, and data model
- Projects with editorial teams that need to run reliably later, without anyone accidentally breaking the layout
- Demanding presences: portals, campaigns, multilingual corporate sites, magazines, product catalogs
The System
What Makes Craft CMS Special
Flexible Content Modeling
Sections, Entry Types, and custom field layouts represent exactly what your project needs – from text fields to nested Matrix blocks. No workarounds or plugin stacks.
Full Control Over the Frontend
With Twig, you write your own markup. No theme, no generated code to override – the result precisely matches your design and performance requirements.
A Backend Your Clients Understand
The Control Panel only shows what you’ve set up: clear field labels, logical order, understandable help texts. The editorial team sees their content, not technical details.
Granular Permissions
Finely graded user groups and permissions: who edits which areas, who publishes, who sees what.
Secure Work on Live Content
Drafts, versioning, and live preview are standard. View changes before publishing and roll back if necessary.
Multilingual and Multi-Site
Multiple languages or sites on a single installation are built-in, not added as an afterthought.
Optional Headless
Via the GraphQL API, Craft can also run as a pure backend if the frontend is developed elsewhere.
Roles
Clear Division of Roles: You Build, Your Client Maintains
The most common point of friction with client websites is a CMS that allows too much. Craft reverses this: what shouldn’t be touched simply doesn’t appear. This reduces support requests, prevents broken layouts, and keeps the website in the state you delivered it for years.
You Build
- Structure and Sections
- Fields and Field Layouts
- Allowed Content Blocks
- Templates and Frontend
Your Client Maintains
- Write texts
- Swap images
- Create posts
- Publish pages
Use Cases
Typical Use Cases
From corporate websites to content sources for apps.
- Corporate presences with well-maintained news and reference sections
- Multilingual websites for internationally active clients
- Association and federation portals with event calendars
- Landing pages and campaign pages with changing content
- Editorially driven magazines
- Product and service catalogs with structured data sets
- Content source for app or frontend framework
Deployment
Deployment and Collaboration
Craft is Composer-based – your code remains your code. You continue to use your repository on GitHub, GitLab, or elsewhere as usual; we can set up staging or development environments in parallel upon request.
- Push You push your current state to the Git repository we provide
- Deploy We deploy the current state to the live system
- Project Config Structure changes from your local environment arrive cleanly live
- Return Path System changes, such as to composer.lock, are returned to you the same way
