Alongside Elasticsearch (both based on the Lucene project), Solr Search is certainly the most popular open-source search engine. Particularly popular for its versatile features, especially its faceted search, Solr is increasingly found in websites or portals created with “conventional” content management systems, such as WordPress. Applications like MediaWiki or TYPO3 have long integrated alternative search engines.
SaaS Web now offers dedicated Managed Solr Hosting. All plans are operated on dedicated virtual machines (no shared hosting).
