SOGo is an open-source groupware featuring a modern responsive interface (Material Design). It combines essential functions: mail services, calendars (events, tasks), and address books. All these functions can be used and managed via the web interface as well as with desktop or mobile clients.
The free SOGo Connector is an extension for Thunderbird and Lightning (Lightning is the calendar extension for Thunderbird) that improves Thunderbird’s compatibility with CalDAV.
We have decided to replace Horde with SOGo in our Mail products (XL+) for the following reasons:
- Horde CalDAV compatibility is not entirely bug-free, particularly regarding invitations
- The web interface is outdated (even though it has long featured a responsive layout)
- The project’s development tends to be slow
Nevertheless, Horde is a great piece of software that has served us well for many years.
